We visited the Museum taking the one hour Smith & Pepper factory guided tour, which included a demonstration of the stamps and workshop polishing benches.
The Jewellery Quarter is a reminder of the UK’s West Midlands industrial past, and that of Birmingham specifically. Despite the thousands of jobs lost in this industry, there is still a large base of jewellers in this area, and, I think our guide said, 40% of the UK’s jewellery is still produced here. So you can visit the area for the museum or the many jewellers – although the latter option might have a bigger impact on your bank balance.
