Short back and sides, and a shave please: A visit to a traditional barber’s in Chiang Mai Thailand

November 15, 2011 By Doug Lawrence Leave a Comment

In the evening we walked past a barber’s shop, and as there was only one person in the chair and no queue it seemed like fate. I had a haircut and a shave. The shave was with an open razor, with disposable blades, and rice milk lotion.  Strangely the shave was not total or ‘clean shaven’, so I left with some-kind-of designer stumble. Not what I was expecting but still a fun and interesting experience, by a nice guy with great skill and care and all for only 80 Baht (USD 2.6)!  The next night we met the barber again at a discount cosmetic store, buying more rice milk lotion I suspect.

The videos are very short, but you get the idea …
