Bibliophile’s heaven: MIT and Harvard coops and book stores

Harvard Coop Bookstore 3rd Floor Languages, Philosophy and other cool stuff

Any book store that has almost an entire shelf dedicated to Kierkegaard, is definitely somewhere you (well OK, I at least) want to stay and browse for a credit-card-screamingly-long-time. And as an added bonus they had the paperback version of one of my all-time favourite books ‘The Loom of Language’ written by Frederick Bodmer in 1942.

Whilst I decided I wouldn’t have time to indulge myself interest in Danish philosophers, I did manage to load up on many excellent books before my jet-lagged Korean friend decided we should leave. It was probably for the best, having spent almost 300 USD in little under an hour!

I understand Jost Zetzsche and Nataly Kelly will be having at signing at the Harvard Coop of their forth coming book, “Found in Translation: How Language Shapes Our Lives and Transforms the World” – how cool is that!

BTW I learnt that coop is pronounced with a hard ‘c’ like a ‘k’ and the ‘oop’ is like the  ‘oup’ in ‘soup’. Everyday is a  school, especially in Cambridge, MA.
